Your Privacy and Security

Checkmate supports 3.8 billion email addresses.
Read on to find out how we do it with your security and privacy in mind.
Our stance on Privacy
As users of the internet in the modern era, we care about privacy just as much as anyone else. We believe privacy and transparency is a core part of building the best savings tool ever made. Therefore, our stance on privacy is very simple: We do not sell your user data, and we only process the minimal amount of data needed to function.
So, what data do we collect? We analyze the checkout URL you're on to see if we support it so we can find you the best coupons for that checkout. That's it. That's the lot. Nothing else. All savings based browser extensions need to process this minimal amount of data in order to function correctly. We will always be transparent with what data we collect and how we use it to help try and save you time and money, and you can decide if you're good with that.
We only partner with the most trusted providers
In order to provide top notch privacy, encryption and security for our user's data, it's important we only support the most trusted and well built email providers. In order to optimize security for our users going forward, Checkmate only supports providers that use a secure tokenized login flow. This helps ensure your email can only be used for the permissions you agree to. This means that Checkmate never needs to store your actual log in credentials and is incredibly secure. Between Gmail, Yahoo (AOL) and the various Microsoft email addresses (including hotmail and live), Checkmate natively
supports 96% of the email addresses in the USA. That's over 3.8 billion email addresses.
By partnering with only the most secure and trusted email providers, we are able to apply the personalized deals that have been emailed to you without risking your privacy. To securely link your inbox with your browser, Checkmate uses the highly trusted Gmail API provided by Google: you can read more about it here.
Using this setup, your personalized deals go straight from your inbox to your browser via the Checkmate extension, and are only ever seen by you. Your information is safe, secure, and we never sell your personal data. We have a separate page on the security of the email providers here.
How does Checkmate make money?
Unlike most other online savings startups, Checkmate does not sell your data. Instead, we partner with merchants to help drive traffic to their site by sending you the best personalized deals for things you will actually be interested in. You save money and they get a new sale on their store, it's win-win for everyone involved. Please read our Privacy Policy for any more questions, or our How it Works page for a more in-depth breakdown of Checkmate's technology. Or, if you like, you can just contact us.
