The Strokes are an indie rock band from New York City. Forming in 1998, the band was paramount in the revival of New York Rock in the early 2000s (you can read more in Lizzy Goodman’s book Meet Me In The Bathroom - “Meet Me In The Bathroom” is a song by The Strokes off of Room On Fire). The band is composed of singer Julian Casablancas, guitarists Nick Valensi and Albert Hammond Jr., bassist Nikolai Fraiture, and drummer Fabrizio Moretti, all 5 of which are original band members. They have released six studio albums (Is This It, Room On Fire, First Impressions of Earth, Angles, Comedown Machine, and The New Abnormal), all released on RCA. The focus of this campaign will be singles off of their first three studio albums.Is This It, their debut studio album, was released in 2001 between July and October globally. After the tragedy of September 11th the song “New York City Cops” was removed from the album digitally and on CD, but remained on the vinyl as production was too far along to adjust. The album debuted at #33 on Billboard Top 200 and #2 in the UK. The singles off of this album include “The Modern Age,” “Hard To Explain,” “Last Nite,” and “Someday.” The album was highly praised by critics and has a 91/100 review on Metacritic.Room On Fire is the second studio album. The title is derived from a lyric in the song “Reptilia” and was released in October 2003. The band eventually returning to the Is This It producer Gordan Raphael for this album, which received positive reviews and charted better in the US (#4 Billboard Top 200, #2 in UK) than their first effort. Three singles were released from this album including “12:51,” “Reptilia,” and “The End Has No End.”First Impressions of Earth is the third studio album and was released between December 2005 and January 2006 globally. The album hit #1 in the UK and peaked at #4 in the US. Singles off the album include “Juicebox,” “Heart In A Cage,” and “You Only Live Once.”
