They are 3/4 length for easy wear and avoids the common boot/sock overlap drama. The zipper is intentionally placed low/off the hip/waist band to avoid pressure points when carrying a backpack. The zipper can also be zipped down to any desired height while they are worn to shed heat and eliminate pressure on hips due to the zipper.
