A traditionally handwoven Thai bamboo fishing trap, re-purposed into a beautifully minimalistic pendant light.
Various sizes available - For reference, the baskets in the first trio pic are XXXL, XXL and XL. Oblong is the natural shape but they can be made spherical and other shapes easily.
The basket is compressible/expandable and can achieve many shapes and positions - the tall oblong shape is the natural position/shape - the round shapes as shown in the listing pictures for example are achieved simply by compressing from each end, and tying the supplied string inside to pull taut as shown to then hold in desired position.
[ About ]
These fishing traps are handwoven from natural bamboo using techniques that are centuries old. We've hand-dyed each fishing trap basket a deep black color and added a simple yet precise hanging lamp holder that can be adjusted with an adjustable metal support bracket so that you can position your bulb anywhere inside the basket, along with a choice of ceiling canopy or plug-in swag kit to match your style/theme.
The basket can be opened/closed like a concertina to get a variety of shapes and fixed in position with string, from the long droplet style to a round circle.
'Basket Only' option includes the metal cord bracket and cord grips.
[ Cable length / options ]
The cable can be made to any length. If you would like a specific length not in the listing options, simply purchase the closest meter from the listing options and add in the order notes the specific length you require. For example, if you would like a cable length 265cm, purchase the 3m option and add the 265cm request in the order notes. We would then make a cable set that is 265cm long.

SWITCH OPTIONS - ** Please note - the plug version (not ceiling/hardwired) does not have a switch on the cable as default. The light must be switched on and off at the plug outlet. A switch can be added by request to the black and white cable versions (just send a message to let us know how many cm from the plug you would like the switch positioned, we will also message buyers to ask) but unfortunately a switch is not able to be added to the natural rope style due to it's thickness. The ceiling versions are hardwired and so no cable switch is needed as they use the light switch in your home already. **

Basket Only - includes just the bamboo basket, without cable/lamp set (*includes the metal bracket and cord grips for using with your own cable/lamp set if necessary)
Natural Ceiling - includes the bamboo basket and fully assembled cord/lamp set with wooden lamp holder and rope style cable, with a a wooden ceiling rose for connecting to your existing electrical wiring in the ceiling/home.
Natural Plug - includes the bamboo basket and fully assembled cord/lamp set with wooden lamp holder and rope style cable, with a plug on the end to plug into your home electrical socket like a lamp etc. The light is turned on and off at the plug / no cable switch.
White/Black Plug - includes the bamboo basket and fully assembled cord & lamp set with white/black silicone lamp holder and white/black PVC cable, with a plug on the end to plug into your home electrical socket like a lamp etc. The light is turned on and off at the plug / no cable switch.
White/Black Ceiling - includes the bamboo basket and fully assembled cord & lamp set with white/black silicone lamp holder and white/black PVC cable, with a a white/black metal ceiling rose for connecting to your existing electrical wiring in the ceiling/home.
[ Notes ]
○ The light bulb is not included. We recommend softer energy saving LED or weaker vintage style bulbs as seen in the pictures to protect the bamboo from heat damage.
○ As each piece is individually handmade they will differ slightly in size, shape and shade, and may have small marks and wear. The odd bamboo strand may be slightly frayed or snapped, but this does not affect the product, you can optionally trim / snip out and position other strands in it's place - due to the handwoven nature and natural bamboo strands used, small imperfections like this are to be expected, but do not affect the design, shaping or use.
○ Oblong baskets will be folded/flattened for easier delivery but this has no effect on their shape or strength due to the unique design - simply filling out and 'pumping' a few times like an accordion will restore the original oblong shape.
[ Shipping ]
Our lamps are packed with loving care and sent from Northern Thailand via tracked airmail which should reach you in around 12-21 days standard airmail, or 5-12 days via Express.
Please be aware that VAT is NOT included - for some countries (typically EU countries) VAT and customs duties may apply, these are the responsibility of the buyer. If the item is returned to us due to non-payment of the customs duties/fees we would be unable to refund the original shipping cost.
