Openings are generally cut with a ¼” overlap on each side. For example, an 8x10 inch photograph will be placed in a mat with a 7.5” x 9.5” opening. This can be reduced to 1/8” on each side if more of your photo/artwork needs to be shown but ¼ works most often and is easier to line up. Measure your photo or artwork and subtract your preferred amount of overlap for your custom opening size. Please email if you need help with your sizing.
