This listing is for highly detailed plans to build this 8ft x 12ft mobile chicken coop. These plans include over 70 pages of details, dimensions, 3d renders, complete material list, step by step instructions, and real pictures to make assembly as easy as possible. This coop is large enough for 12 chickens to live in comfortably. It features side doors that open for easy cleaning, nest boxes with exterior access, and custom vintage windows that open for a vintage look.
It is also easy to move using the custom built trailer jacks fitted with oversized wheels. Just crank each jack up several turns and 2 people can easily move the entire coop to a new spot every couple days. That way your chickens have clean fresh ground to enjoy. Or if you choose, you can build it as a fixed coop that doesn't move. Either way this coop is sure to be the envy of your friends and neighbors.
We designed and built this coop last spring and it has been in use for almost year now and it works great! I received so much positive feedback from people that have seen it that I decided to make these plans for it. I'm a building contractor and worked hard to make these plans as easy to read as possible. These are not typical blueprints, they use real 3d pictures to show you each step with thorough explanations.
This is a fairly compex build. Some experience with building or at least a friend with some experience will be a great help. Also, there are custom aspects to this coop design, such as the windows, that will most likely be different for your build. I purchased the windows I used from ebay. They are vintage used window sashes that I cleaned up and painted. I do give instructions on how to frame for any size window that you may find, and also list the size I used as well as the largest that could be used.
The jacks for moving the coop are also custom built. I show pics of the setup I came up with and anybody with a welder and basic hand tools could make these. Also you will need to add an extra support beam under the coop house where the jacks mount. This is shown in the pictures.
I priced out the material list recently, and in our area the material cost is around $1800. That does not include the windows. So whatever windows you source will need to be added to that price.
Also, I used 13 inch wheels from Tractor Supply for our coop because that is all that would fit. I changed the plans to allow for a larger set of wheels. Tractor supply has some 16 in x 5.00- 8 in. wheels that have a 1 inch bore and a 660 lb weight rating that would be perfect. The sku for the wheels is 355252799.
Thanks for your consideration!
