Here is well-made starter pistol, a model V22 (VOLCANIC 22), made in Italy. This starter uses .22 blanks and can accept six at a loading. As pictured, the top of the gun flips open to accept the blanks. The pistol is opened by fulling the short rod below the forward portion of the barrel forward – this is not done easily. When activated, the trigger mechanism functions to turn the cylinder holding the blanks and the hammer falls on the blank rotated into alignment with the barrel. I have not tested actual function. The starter pistol is marked with its model name and number, with a "TYPE 6" on one side of its stubby barrel, with a "UNIWERK" (German?) on the other side of the barrel, with a "MADE IN ITALY" and with a manufacturer's logo that appears to be an "EIG" in a gunsight-like circle. The barrel opening does not go through to the hammer so there is no chance of this ever being anything lethal. It is about 5 inches long and in very good condition, with 90+% of its paint remaining.
