HISTORY
The Strathmore Rose Tiara is febw known as one of the least worn British royal floral tiaras. It is a "convertible" tiara as it can be broken down into five brooches & has 2 tiara frames, 1 frame enables the tiara to be worn "flapper" style down on the forehead & the 2nd on the top of the head.The Queen Mother wore it when she was The Duchess of York, but not after becoming Queen in 1937. It was originally a wedding gift to the Queen Mother from her father, The Earl of Strathmore, and has not been worn by the British royal family for 83 years! Royal tiara fans, like myself, were hoping to see it worn by one of the recent royal brides but it hasn't made an appearance yet & seems doubtful that it will.
With there being so few photos of the Strathmore Rose to go on, creating a tiara that stays true to the original design and scale was challenging.
