NEW STOCK! These have been out for awhile due to bad drought in Madagascar. As expected, the price has gone up some, but I got a good deal on this batch so I am passing the savings along to you. This listing is for one Sunset Moth, Urania riphaeus, ready for your DIY project. They are one of the most colorful and gorgeous butterflies or moths in the world! This is a day-flying moth from Madagascar, and it's breathtakingly beautiful on both sides (so you might want two!). The first photo shows the top, and the second shows the verso (underneath). The colors sparkle as if they were metallic or glitter. You can't go wrong with these! Wingspan is approximately 3-3.5 inches. Please note: slight scratching or chipping is the standard with these, and can occasionally be found in A quality specimens. Most moths are this way. I will check to make sure that antennae and tails are intact before sending. The other three photos are here to describe the available methods of preparation: Please select whether you'd like the butterfly spread, unmounted/papered, or laminated (wings only). Descriptions follow: "Spread" means I have opened the wings for you. All you have to do is glue into your project. "Unmounted/Papered" means I have done nothing. The butterfly is in it's collection envelope, with its wings folded up, as pictured in the example shown in the last photo here. This is an option for people who know how to spread their own specimens. Want to learn how? I sell a Butterfly Spreading Kit in my shop! "Wings Laminated" means that I have removed the wings from the body and have laminated them separately for you. Please see the last three photos in this listing for pictorial examples of the above preparations. To glue into your project (for example, into a shadowbox frame), just use some Elmer's school glue, or whatever you have lying around. No special tools required. Tweezers for handling might make the job easier. Here's a link to my Butterfly Spreading Kit, if you'd like to learn how to open the specimens yourself; it comes with all the tools you need plus 12 practice butterflies: https://www.etsy.com/listing/120818154/butterfly-mounting-kit-for-beginners?ref=shop_home_active_4&ga_search_query=kit I also have free online video tutorials: www.insectartonline.com My butterflies come from farmed sources and are not taken from the wild. I cannot guarantee intact antennae on spread specimens, as they are just too fragile. The image here is a stock photo; as I have several in stock, you will not receive the exact item pictured. Thank You!
