Each drawer holds about 75-100 LPs comfortably, or about 14 inches of vinyl records per drawer. Viewing your LPs upright makes sorting, finding, and returning your vinyl records a breeze. Drawers are on telescoping, full-extension hardware, so finding a record tucked in the back of the drawer is easy. FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ___________________________ + How many vinyl records will this actually hold? - To get a good sense of how many drawers you will need, you can measure the total "distance" of all your vinyl records and divide by 14 -- the result will be how many drawers you'll need. The drawers are 15” deep on the interior, and allowing some space for sifting, you have 14” of usable space in each drawer. Each drawer will hold between 75 and 100 albums, depending on their individual thickness, so it’s best to measure your collection instead of counting. Drawers are 13" wide on the interior, which should accommodate most standard box sets. We also make record storage for 45s. __________________________ + How are these cabinets built? -We use combinations of species-matched solid lumber and high quality veneer plywood. All of our materials are sourced from mills in the U.S. and meet federal standards for quality and emissions. Each piece of wood has its own unique grain pattern. - We build these cabinets out of a combination of species-matched solid hardwood (for the face frame, edge-banding, and drawer faceplates) and 3/4" plywood (for the cabinet box and drawer boxes) finished with gel stain. The cabinets can be stained any color. Typically finished with a matte polyurethane, or we can do a satin polyurethane. Drawers are built out of 1/2” plywood and are stained on the exterior (interior is left natural, unless requested to be stained). Drawer hardware is rated to 100 lbs. each, but a full drawer should only weigh about 60 lbs. The legs shown in the photos are adjustable. You also select other styles of cabinet legs. These cabinets are built to last generations of vinyl collectors. ___________________________ + Can I customize the cabinet? - This posted unit is for display only – every cabinet is custom-built per order. Identical or custom-made units will always be made to order. No cabinet is off the shelf. When you order, you'll confirm your stain, finish and details. we can also mail you some sample blocks with your selected stains, before or after you decide to order. We are happy to customize the cabinet and hardware to your specifications, though we will need to charge additional for more expensive hardware and lumber, and if the details take more time. An estimate will be provided upfront. ___________________________ + How does my cabinet get shipped? - We offer free shipping in the continental U.S. Cabinets will arrive fully assembled, though you might need to add the adjustable legs by twisting them onto the attached mounts. The cabinet will be shipped freight, meaning it will be packed and wrapped on a pallet. You’ll get a call from the carrier to setup a local delivery window. Due to the size of this record storage cabinet, white glove delivery is required to ensure safe and professional handling. When you order, you can pay through the Etsy payment system at checkout. ___________________________ + Why does your furniture need to be strapped to the wall? -We value safety first and foremost. And we always build with this in mind. This furniture is heavy, especially with vinyl records. We send instructions with every piece of furniture that it must be secured to wall studs with the supplied furniture straps no matter where you live. It must be secured to prevent it from tipping forward. We include official Quakehold safety straps at no extra charge, and they must be used immediately to securely anchor the furniture to the wall for safety. -When you purchase furniture from R/D Record Cabinets, you acknowledge that anchoring the furniture to the wall will help to prevent tip over. You understand the furniture you are purchasing MUST BE ATTACHED TO THE WALL per the provided instructions and furniture wall straps to help prevent tip over. ___________________________ + Why are these cabinets constructed with plywood? We build these cabinets out of a combination of species-matched solid hardwood (for the face frame, edge-banding, and drawer faceplates) and plywood (for the cabinet box and drawer boxes). The effect is to make the cabinet appear to be of solid wood, but with the advantages of plywood's greater strength and resilience. Solid lumber is expensive, heavy, and very strong in one direction (with the grain) and correspondingly weak in the other direction (against the grain). On the other hand, plywood, with its criss-crossed layers, is stronger than solid lumber in most applications, and since the outer "veneer" layer is a desirable hardwood (in this case, oak, birch, walnut or mahogany), it matches the face trim and drawer faceplates quite nicely. This is pretty standard construction for most wood furniture, especially if it needs to carry a heavy load like these cabinets do with vinyl records. Books and LPs on display are also for sale.
