The book of the secrets of Enoch (also called: Second Book of Enoch, Slavonic Enoch, and Secrets of Enoch), is an apocalyptic text, written from a sublime view of God’s heavenly order. A book full of revelations, symbols, and great meanings, as in its beginning it says:
“Enoch, a righteous man to whom the revelation of the Holy One and of Heaven was given, declared his prophecy saying: The vision of the Holy One of heaven was revealed to me… and I have understood that I will not speak for this generation but for a distant one that is to come”.
The main purpose of the Book of Secrets of Enoch is to present Enoch as the one who managed to climb to heaven to become immortal, Enoch is the one who managed to resist temptation and is rewarded by being raised to heaven above the angels. And received from God secrets that not even the angels themselves were able to know.
The text begins with the narration of Enoch, in the first person, of a journey through the ten heavens and arrives at his encounter with God. Then he narrates about the creation of the world and exposes the instructions that the Lord gave him, which he teaches his children and they must spread them on earth to all generations.
It has only been possible to preserve a text in Church Slavonic known as Enoch the Slavonic, of this apocryphal text only a few excerpts were known, which with certainty were translated from an original in the Greek language, from which it is thought that it came in turn, from a writing original Hebrew.
Regarding its date, the book is located in the first century of our era (probably from the year 70 AD). The text was lost for several centuries, then recovered and published at the end of the 19th century.
This book “Enoch 2” has been attributed to an unidentified Jewish group; others consider it to be the work of first-century Christians, and some believe it to be a later Christian work. We must emphasize that his book is not part of the Jewish or Christian canon.
Book is in good condition. This is an Ex-Libris, so it has expected indication, though nothing obnoxious. There are some light scattered pencil markings throughout the book, but nothing bad. Spine and cover show signs of wear, but nothing too bad (see photos for reference). Overall good condition; solid copy.
