This listing is for a drain tray insert for La Marzocco Linea Micra and Acaia Lunar scale.
The Linea Micra's clearance underneath the grouphead is limited. With the bottomless filter and Acaia lunar scale with silicone mat, there is 83mm clearance. Without the silicone mat, 86mm clearance.
Using this SEAspro Drain Tray Insert, you're able to increase your clearance to 94mm with the bottomless portafilter plate.
Without the bottomless portafilter plate, doing either double spout split shot or single spot shot, you're up to 70mm clearance to the bottom of the spout or 98mm measured to the portafilter's bottom edge.
This listing is only for the drain tray insert which you will need to modify the existing drain tray by cutting the grille using a rotary tool with cut off disc. An OEM grille can be ordered directly from La Marzocco by emailing them for Part Number C.1.654 (Wire Grid Linea Micra). The cost of this grille as of July 7, 2023 is $105 in the USA.

Q: What are parts printed out of?
A: Parts are printed with Hatchbox PLA
Q: Why isn't the Acaia Lunar centered?
A: In the Linea Micra, the reservoir tank protrudes on the right hand side. La Marzocco placed a protrusion into the drip tray to have clearance to this reservoir and also placed the drip tray float centered.
Q: How does the Bottomless Portafilter Plate attach to the Acaia Lunar scale?
A: There are magnets underneath, positioned away from the electronics. It also has a nonslip pad to limit movement.
Q: What weight can be used with the Bottomless Portafilter Plate?
A: I have used up to 350g without the plate detaching, espresso cups are around 280g.
Q: Does the scale maintain accuracy using the Bottomless Portafilter Plate?
A: From my testing, it usually shows equal mass when cup is placed on the plate compared to the center. I have seen it offset by 0.1g when the cups are on the heavier side at times. But 0.1g at a total mass of 350g is 0.03% off. If you tare the cup, the offset will be negligible.
Q: How long does cutting the grille take?
A: It took me 20 minutes. I suggest using a benchtop vise, and placing duct tape on the vise so you don't scratch the grille. Do this in a ventilated and safe area as sparks can occur.
Q: How do you flush the grouphead with the bottomless portafilter?
A: I found it easiet to remove the tray insert then flush (see video).
Q: Do you plan on changing the material?
A: In the future, I hope to have the tray insert either machined or molded. I am looking into an anodized aluminum Bottomless Portafilter Plate, but that will be down the lines.
Q: Do you plan on selling with a pre-modified grille?
A: In the future, if there's enough demand, I can look into pre-modifying the grille. Unfortunately there are no price breaks from La Marzocco as a hobbyist so it would be high cost for me to buy these.
