'Les Parfums de Dana' was established in Barcelona in 1921 by Javier Serra, the former director of Myrurgia of Spain. The company then moved to Paris in 1932 at 9 rue de la Paix. The company was named after the Greek goddess Danae and this idea was incorporated into the Dana logo, which consisted of a beautiful woman's head, taken from a sculpture by Mariano Andreu.
Platino was released in 1934. The scent is floral-resinous. The production was apparently discontinued in the early 1970's.
"Bright citrus and juniper open this scent up like a cocktail. On top of jonquil (daffodil), lemon, cypress and a sweet base of beeswax and honey, kept bright by the excellent lingering citrus/cypress duo. According to my source it has facets of iris, rose, jasmine, tuberose, ylang ylang, orange blossom, storax and oak moss in it, which is enough to be a perfume all in one flower, and this multifaceted beauty is within Platine, too." “Platine parfum was the scent of a rich glamour girl who lived on Park Avenue and wore jewelry from Harry Winston ~ a strictly special occasion scent; the soapy floral... which was Platine. Platine parfum was meant to make women think of diamonds set in platinum bands or the glamour of platinum blonde hair”
D. Chedwick, May 2008.
The name means "platinum" and the bottles had silvery platinum foil flakes floating inside to resemble platinum. The fragrance was also released in Spanish-speaking countries as Platino, and for French speaking countries is was Platine.
The perfume is classified as an aldehydic floral fougere fragrance for women. It begins with a sparkling aldehydic top note, punctuated with green notes, followed by lots of soapy Bulgarian roses over a fougere base.
"Close to the skin but a very lovely gentle almost carnation spicy cologne with some citrus in the tops and florals that blossom into narcissus, orange blossom and others with a depth of sandalwood and musk and some lifting aldehydes for a fragrance that wants to be soapy but isn't, some vetiver or oak moss to anchor it but not noticeable."
