We have recently discovered a large amount of vintage Asian ceramic ware consisting of hand painted porcelain plates, bowls, tea sets, rice bowls, lotus bowls and spoons. These beautiful designs were made in the 1960’s and 1970’s in China and are available in many colors and patterns. In most cases the porcelain was kiln in the mainland and the artwork and decorations were done in Macau a territory on the coast of China. This area was known for being the ceramic decoration capital during that time. Most of the work was done by novice or unknown artist and sometimes resulted in coloring outside the lines and other slightly sloppy work. It is not uncommon to find painting outside the lines and small drops of paint that has been baked onto the piece. This just simply adds so much character to the hand painted work. There was not much quality control, but these pieces are very much admired today and quite sought after. There are some awesome tones and colors used in most of the patterns. Some of the pieces may have small imperfections or maybe slightly dirty from storage. But there are no chips or cracks, and all the pieces are left over new old stock. They make very nice display pieces and are quite affordable.
