Like the Wicked Cape it's been through the grave and back with lots of shredding along the way. The dye work is mottled for a weathered look. The Phantom Cape is made with a medium weight sheeting for a flatter, smoother, lighter weight and less rustic impression.
The hood is deep. All capes close with a single button at the neck. Buttons are generally plastic and round, but might be chunks of bone or wood if I'm feeling like it, or by request.
Colors: All capes start off as white. Color offerings are approximate. If you order "Swamp Green" and then tell me you want it more on the yellow side or more on the blue side, I can easily accommodate you. If you want an exact match with something else, then my apologies. It aint happening. If you want something not in my list, then contact me through the conversation button before you order. I get a bit snippy if you don't talk to me first. I can generally get anything that a combination of blue, yellow, red, black, and brown can produce.
I can't offer a true black. The darkest I can make it is "Charcoal". Think the dusty, matte finish of an un-burnt charcoal briquette. If you say nothing, when ordering Charcoal, then you will get the first run through which might have more mottling with lighter patches. If you say "darkest" or "blackest" in the "message to seller" field of the order form, then I will put it through the process until I can't get it darker. This will take out most of the mottling.
Size: They are capes with a ragged edge. Of course they can accommodate you. If you're worried, just let me know.
Regular is suitable for anyone in the 5'4" to 6" range up to 4X. Us shorties might have to cut off a little from the bottom. It's just fringe. It's perfectly fine to snip a bit off. That or let it drag. Dragging is fun. If you are wider, the cape will still close in front, but ride up a bit.
Extra Tall generally maxes out at the 7' range. If you're on stilts or more than 7' tall and want it to come down further than your ankles, talk to me. We'll probably have to do a custom order.
Small Adult both narrows the shoulders and shaves off a few inches from the bottom. You can choose any length shorter than 50 inches. Let me know if you need the shoulders a bit wider.
Child size runs approximately 35 inches long. You can get one shorter, but if you want longer, please order the adult small. Children more than 4 feet tall need to bump up to the Small Adult.
Full Circle is just that - if you lay it out flat with the hem stretched out in all directions, it will make a full circle. This is what you order when you want tons of volume like for a really grand entrance. Full Circle will completely cover anyone. Let me know if you want it shortened, or lengthened. I can go to the size of an extra tall - no extra charge. Otherwise I'll assume a regular length will do for you.
Cut work: Generally I use what I call the spiral cut. This produces those long tendrils with good volume and some quirkiness. I can also do a wave cut. This is more solid around the hem and harder for you to adjust. I generally focus the slash work along the bottom half of the cape with a few strays toward the top. You can request more or less slashing or to focus on certain areas. Just let me know.
These capes are not gauze! They might be light, but they won't float around as much, don't stretch, and are a much tighter weave.
Message to Sell. There's a field in the order form where you can mention what it is you want. That's where you put things like "As black as you can get" or "Bone button, please". Stuff like ordering a child and then putting "He's five feet tall" will not go well. If in doubt talk to me first!
Returns: Officially, I don't accept any.
Unofficially I'm quite willing to replace something that doesn't work for you, or do a partial refund. I never refund the cost of shipment, but will cover the cost from my end if we're doing a swap. Generally it costs me between $6 and $15 to ship a cape, depending on size. Keep your packaging until you know if you want to keep the cape. The return needs to be in the mail before whatever event you ordered it for. A lot of this is a matter of taste. You don't need to come up with an excuse. I do want feedback, though, so I can change my process when there's something I'm overlooking.
