From 1981 is this romantic Gunne Sax (by Jessica McClintock San Francisco) spaghetti-strap tiered dress in the prairie gown style with a bolero-length lace jacket. This dress has been worn and shows some light signs of wear. There is one spot on the bodice lace that has pulled a bit -- Please see photos.
This is a unique style, one that we have not see elsewhere. It was originally a 3 tier, floor length dress but was modified because the original owner was too tall for it (5' 8" 120lbs). She removed one of the tiers and made it into a cocktail length dress, below the knee. The bodice is black velvet with lace and ribbon edging and pearl buttons. The full skirt is a black flower sprigged calico and has ties at the waist that tie in the back. The cream colored long sleeve lace jacket has a shawl color and a shorter length and the sleeves are slightly puffed and gathered at the shoulder seam. The back zipper extends from the top of the back to about 10 inches below the waist.
The size tag is missing, but this is probably a 1980s size 7. Because it is from the 1980s, the sizes may be smaller than current day sizing and there is no stretch to the fabric. Please read the detailed measurements that follow. This would be great for prom or any special event. It would also be very appropriate as whimsical summer dress.

Length (from the top of the shoulder strap to the bottom of the hem, measured from the front): 45 inches
Underarm to Underarm: 15 inches.
Bodice length (from top of the strap to where the bodice attaches to the bottom of the lower waist ribbon): 15.75 inches
Waist (this may not hit exactly at the waist, but it is the tightest point of the dress): 12 inches
Jacket:
Sleeve length (from top of shoulder seam to cuff edge): 23 inches
Cuff opening: 4 1/8 inches
Back width from shoulder seam to shoulder seam: 15 inches
Length from where collar attaches to neckline at back to bottom of hem: 17 inches
