What a beaut...OK, we admit it, we think ALL vintage bowling bags rock! But just look at the awesome style of this super RARE mid century inverted retro bowling ball bag with its perfect baby blue and ivory retro striping with snow white piping, trim, and handles. In EXCELLENT vintage condition, this bag is the ~perfect gift~ for that vintage-loving bowler in your life, or retro-minded upcycler you know who needs - no - deserves, a super cool bag to match their super cool style. No doubt about it, when Mrs. Maisel or Mad Men's Betty Draper went bowling, THIS is the type of bag they would have carried.
Featuring gorgeous curved retro stripes of finely textured faux leather baby blue and kid glove ivory, eye-catching snow white trim and piping, and antiqued gold trim throughout. It is a soft-sided but still quite structured bowling bag probably primarily composed of faux leather with a few real leather trim pieces. Super high quality bag for sure!
LOVE the handy, retro shaped ivory stitched-on insert in the middle of one of the large sides of the bag where you can tuck a little card with your name, address, bowling league name, or whatever other identification or fun personalization you can think of (one small edge of it is open). If you are gifting this bag, what a perfect place to tuck your lucky gift recipient's name or a tiny note or card!
Wonderful condition and retro style all in one here - this bag is truly a gem! In great vintage condition with everything working fine and only minor signs of use: some small scuffs / surface wear marks on the outside, oxidation / aging on the antiqued gold hardware, a few stitches broken, and light signs of wear / usage overall inside, including the common bowling alley ball oil stains on the sides. Definitely nothing so major that detracts from the total rockabilly wonder of this bag! Perfect either for your bowling league night or upcycled into the coolest hipster purse or stylish carry-on bag ever.
Such fun vintage details found in this bag. LOVE the inverted design of the bag - so retro and so cool! Can you believe it still has the original Leed's Travelwear New York tag inside?? Also marked "Leed's" on the bottom underside of the bag on the plastic ballholder. TONS of real stitching throughout this bag, amazingly with only a few stitches missing - despite it's long life - should help this bag last forever and show it must have been very well taken care of by its former caretaker. Lucky you get to benefit from it now! (Can you tell that the more I study this bag, the more I want to KEEP it?!)
This awesome bag has an old-school, beige cloth and antiqued gold metal zipper with a large retro-shaped zipper pull (tarnished) that reads, "SERVAL U.S.A.," that unzips most of the way down both sides of the bag for ease in access and storage. One end of the zipper has a matching white vinyl tab and the other end has a metal loop, both to help you have something to hold onto when zipping/unzipping the bag. These handy pulls add not only to the function, but the overall retro style of this bag. Beauty AND practicality: tough to find both in one bag but you get it here!
For added strength and style, the zipper is surrounded by smooth white vinyl accents double stitched in place. The bag has smooth white plastic curved handles attached firmly both inside and out. The handles fit together "just so" in a unique design (never seen it before!) with a neat little plastic tab that helps you hold them together even with a heavy bowling ball inside. So clever!
This great bag is lined inside with cloth canvas which is a sign of a high quality bag as many sport only cheap vinyl inside. Besides the ball oil staining, there is also a wee bit of dust, but hardly any of the common "old bowling alley" odor inside. Overall, incredible condition for its age and purpose as a sports bag.
The ball holder inside this bag is a very unobtrusive built-in white plastic stabilizer stitched to the bottom that works great but is also nice because it doesn't get in the way if you decide you want to use the bag for something other than bowling (upcycle to a purse, carry-on, etc.). The four antiqued gold metal feet on the bottom that support the bag work great.
This great bag could be upcycled into a purse or accessory luggage bag quite easily. What a fun "something blue" for a bride-to-be to carry on her honeymoon! In case you are considering snagging it for your bowling league night as a nod to the past, first of all, we think that would be really cool, and second of all, we think it would hold one ball and even your bowling shoes. The overall impression is that this is one special bag -- you won't go unnoticed carrying it, that's for certain!
