The iconic Apollo 11 lunar plaque, famously titled "Here Men From The Planet Earth First Set Foot Upon the Moon", was affixed to the ladder of the Lunar Module Eagle and remains on the Moon to this day. Crafted from stainless steel and measuring about 9 by 7 5/8 inches, the plaque bears a powerful inscription: "We came in peace for all mankind." Below these words are the engraved signatures of the three Apollo 11 astronauts—Neil A. Armstrong, Michael Collins, and Edwin E. “Buzz” Aldrin—as well as U.S. President Richard Nixon. The plaque also features an etched image of Earth, emphasizing unity and global significance. Placed on July 20, 1969, shortly before Armstrong’s historic first steps, the plaque served as a timeless message of exploration, peace, and human achievement, commemorating the first time humans set foot on another celestial body.
