Leucaena leucocephala
Miracle Tree
Wild Tamarind
In the early years of its planting, leucaenas were often called "miracle trees" for their success as fast-growing, multipurpose, nitrogen fixing trees in the tropics. Foliage resemble that of mimosa trees.
Flower clusters contain numerous white, self- pollinating flowers followed by clusters of vertical brown pods. Changes in daylight do not effect the tree which allows it to bloom year round!
Leucaena seeds have hard coats that need pretreatment to enhance germination. Seeds can be scarified, either by nicking the seed coat or soaked in warm water then direct seed or plant as container grown seedlings. Sow seed in standard potting mix.
We thank you for your support of rare and naturally grown seeds!
