I have always liked the idea of lingerie as outerwear. I particularly like slips as dresses. 1930s bias cut are particularly good for that. This one is earlier, 1920s, but I think has the same potential because of its silhouette. It could easily be layered over something like a t-shirt. Or you could wear a cardigan with it. It is a nice below knee length. It has wide lace and chiffon straps and side lace trim around the top. There are three voids in the lace across the chest. These are filled in with the chiffon and each piece is embroidered with a floral design. It has a pink silk ribbon tie under the bust. The rest of the slip is quite full as the chiffon is gathered into the lace under the bust. Then its has lace trim around the hem. It pulls on over the head. I would be classed as empire waisted.
The chiffon is a lovely and unusual periwinkle colour (a lilac tinged blue). The lace is a nice aged cream colour and the embroidery and ribbon is pink. It is quite lovely. It could still be worn as nightwear or loungewear. I would possibly council against sleeping in it as I think it is silk chiffon and although it is strong, it might not be a good idea to toss and turn the night away in bed in 100 year old silk.
It is modelled by Faye who measures 34 at the bust and 25 at the waist. The hips are quite free. This measures 36 at the bust (probably best for 34/35 bust max). The under bust measurement is 31 inches. It is about 43 inches long from the shoulder strap. Remember this has to go on over your head.
It is in excellent, clean condition. There was a bit of seam separation of about an inch but I have sewn that shut. Otherwise, I could find anything to report. A super little slip in great shape, and from the 1920s. Excellent.
