These are the Hess Trucks offered during the Christmas seasons of 1995 through 1999.
NO BOXES. NO PACKAGING.
This selection of trucks is designed to offer a more budget-friendly alternative to the boxed as-new trucks that I normally sell here.
When we receive a collection there are often a few trucks that were either removed from the Boxes by the original owners for display OR the boxes and packaging are incomplete or damaged in some way that I cannot offer as-new packaging boxed examples on my other advertisements. Or in some cases it's merely a case of the smaller companion Vehicles not functioning as originally intended.
These we set aside and offer them at a lower price with absolutely no packaging of any kind, no boxes, no inserts and no instruction sheets, just the trucks themselves, in a range of condition from excellent to near mint, all complete with the correct parts that they originally came with.
Most of the trucks are unused but they may have minor flaws around the edges from storage or age including some discolorations or micro abrasions, tarnish or fading of the silver chrome parts.
The smaller companion vehicles are untested with no guarantees to function. The larger trucks are tested and working. The little helicopter on the 1995 truck never works so don't count on it.
All of the smaller companion Vehicles should be assumed not working.
The space shuttles also do not work.
There may be tarnish and corrosion
from battery acid in the compartments despite being cleaned out.
BATTERIES NOT INCLUDED
At some point in the 1990s Hess began including batteries with the trucks, but this was a problem because the Energizer batteries of the time were notorious for leakage causing battery acid corrosion. Any batteries that were in the trucks have been removed prior to sale.
The worst of these in my experience has been the little helicopter on the 95 truck and the space shuttle on the 99 truck, which had double or triple A batteries. That particular battery type is notorious for severe leakage, and even case-fresh unopened examples have this problem. The batteries have to be removed and the compartment cleaned of residue. The trucks may still have tarnish and corrosion on the battery contacts or tiny bits of residue inside in out of reach places. These smaller vehicles DO NOT FUNCTION as a result.
With the others they are usually little button cell batteries of the kind that are used in calculators, which are not usually a problem.
On some of the early through mid 90s trucks I have found shrinkage cracks on the tires and some fading or foxing of the silver "chrome" trim around the edges. These issues are related to storage and age and not from use. Some of the chrome trim can also have a "gold" appearance which is from yellowing discoloration of the material as it ages.
in some cases I may use the outer original box for shipping purposes but there is no guarantee that you will receive one and if one is included it will likely have significant condition flaws. it is only for shipping purposes and intended to be discarded on receipt.

NO WARRANTY
although the trucks are tested prior to shipment, because the electronics are decades old there can be no guarantees as to the longevity of function. if they stop working at any point after you receive them, they are not returnable or refundable. they are sold as collector's items only with no expectation to continue working indefinitely or for any specific time frame.
