This listing is for a vintage Japanese kinchaku (drawstring) purse. These are a prized accessory for a kimono-clad woman even today. They're typically made with kimono fabric, have a flat base, and tend to be used for casual, rather than formal, occasions.
This bag has a square flat bottom covered with the same rayon crepe that creates the pouch. The fabric pouch contains two solid red pieces with two garden-patterned pieces between. Designs include maple leaves, plum blossoms, bamboo leaves, pine boughs, and more - all may have been printed but they seem to have been created with a stencil.
Red cording is threaded through the sewn loops at the top to cinch the bag closed.
Lined. Very good condition, one blemish on the bottom, see last photo.
