1 Antique French Porcelain Oyster Plate Henri Delcourt Desvres, late 19th - early 20th century
Very Rare French Oyster Plate with a floral design inspired by the style of Rouen. Beautiful bright colors of blue, green, yellow and orange on a white background. One of the wells is decorated with the coat of arms of Cancale.
Desvres, is a small town in the Pas-de-Calais region that saw a lot of earthenware production in the 19th and 20th centuries. Earthenware production still remains there, but in a less industrial form than in the past.
Desvres did not really develop its own style like some other French earthenware cities (Quimper, Moustier, Rouen, Nevers...) but was often inspired by these styles, even copying some pieces.
