This beautiful Vintage Hobart Era KitchenAid K45SS Electric Stand Mixer is cream off white, 250 watts, and ready for a new home. The K45SS KitchenAid mixer model was produced from the late 1970s to the mid 1980s. This specific KitchenAid mixer was produced in early 1980, before Hobart sold the KitchenAid brand to Whirlpool. There is no serial number (Hobart / KitchenAid used to not utilize serial numbers during this era of production). This model is K45SS and was the updated replacement to the popular K45 model, manufactured from 1968-1978. The K45SS model brought in an improved motor that further increased the already lengthy operational lifespan with the “Solid State speed control”. This restored KitchenAid mixer will last decades and continue to outperform other electric stand kitchen mixer brands, such as Sunbeam Mixmaster, Hamilton Beach, Oster, and Dormeyer when it comes to quality, durability, and service life.
Restoration Process:
As part of my restoration process I completely disassembled this mixer, degreased the gears and motor, inspected all parts and seals to ensure any needed repairs could be made (this one was in great shape so none were needed), greased all moving parts and seals, assembled the mixer, then thoroughly cleaned the exterior using a three step process to remove grime, built up food, and grease/oil, while ensuring the original paint could be preserved. After all cleaning, servicing, and assembly has been completed, the final step is to calibrate the speed regulator and adjust the tilt of the mixer head. These two important details are looked over by many people, but I feel they are very important. First, calibrating the speed regulator ensures the mixer has a steady and slow stir speed when set to the lowest setting. Second, properly adjusting the tilt of the head ensures a narrow gap is maintained between the tip of the beater and the bottom of the mixing bowl, which ensures the beater doesn't contact the bowl at any speed. Because this listing is for the mixer only I used a standard 4.5 quart KitchenAid mixer bowl and a standard flat paddle beater. If you purchase bowl & beaters at the time of purchasing this mixer, I will ensure the mixer is calibrated to the bowl and beater set before shipping out.
Details About This Mixer:
This vintage Hobart KitchenAid electric stand mixer runs smoothly on all 10 speeds. The power cord has no cracks or fraying and the mixer has no rust or leaking oil. The mixer has several signs of wear, rough paint, and scratches. Specifically, please look at the close up photos showing minor discoloration on the front beneath the silver band, scratches at the bottom of the mixer, top, rear, and front of the head, as well as rough paint on the rear and side of the base. Regarding the power cord, you can see in the photos it has a slight discoloration, but otherwise is in fantastic shape. This mixer runs and operates wonderfully, and none of the imperfections noted or photographed will impede its performance. Because this mixer doesn't include a bowl or beater set, you can either purchase one from my shop or use your own. If you need assistance calibrating it for your own bowl and beater set, then I can help you complete this very simple process after your mixer arrives. Please look at photos carefully as I've done my best to capture all marks and wear and I'm happy to provide you with additional photos upon request. I've disassembled, inspected, and thoroughly cleaned the mixer and all nooks and crannies. While this vintage appliance has cosmetic issues, it is in AMAZING condition internally and would look wonderful in your home for years to come.
