Aleister Crowley founded the A∴A∴, or Astrum Argentum, in 1907. The name translates to "Silver Star" in Latin, symbolizing a path to enlightenment and spiritual transformation.
The core of the A∴A∴ philosophy is Thelema, a spiritual doctrine articulated by Crowley in his seminal work, "The Book of the Law". Central to Thelema is the maxim, "Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the Law," emphasizing the pursuit of one's true purpose. Members of the A∴A∴ are guided through a series of initiatory grades, each designed to foster personal growth and expand consciousness.
These grades – and according with the central document for the A∴A∴ system, “One star in sight” – have a perfect correspondence on the Kabbalistic Tree of Life. Thus, and after the Student, comes the grade of the Probationer, (from the Latin “probatio” which means “to prove”) where its major task is to begin practices of magick and yoga as he/she prefer, and to write a careful record of his/her workings for one year.
All this time, and during rituals, the practitioner is requested to wear a white Tau Robe without a hood (for he/she is like a newborn, pure and open to all influences), with gold trim around neck, sleeves, and hem, a scarlet pentagram in front and a hexagram on the back with a gold Tau in the center.* That way, the Robe becomes a constant reminder of the subtle body around him/her, while the mage changes into a living, breathing symbol of the Lesser Ritual of the Pentagram sacred geometry.
The artistic workshop LOGOS 373 provides the practitioners of the A∴A∴ with the traditional white Tau Robe made of high quality linen, and embroidered with all the appropriate symbols. As for the T inside the hexagram, you can choose its direction depending on the instructions you follow.
Note that all our Robes are made to order, they are not mass production and they are customised on your own measurements in order to fit.
Detailed instructions on how to take the measurements we need will be sent to you upon completion of the order.
*Certain lineages request the T to be upside down following the unfolding of the cubic cross just like the T in Crowley's magic circle (see "Liber ABA") .
