In my work, I am inspired by Japanese art and continue to work mostly with ink on paper.
My interest in minimalism started years ago and I am still fascinated by its diversity and wisdom.
Geometric forms express my longing for simplicity and order whereas expressionist, fast brushstrokes, chaotic lines and washes of ink reflect everyday life and its unpredictable ways.
I am also very much inspired by modern Scandinavian art as well as American expressionist and minimalist art.
Reduced color pallet allows forms and lines to communicate clearly their abstract message without the unnecessary noise of color. Black and white or monochrome forms invite the viewer to focus and delve into the narrative of the image.
I am fascinated by the language of spiritual art - how an image can convey a message that is very difficult to convey verbally. I'm not saying that I managed to master it, but it will always be the northern star of my artistic practice.
Pieces included in this series will hopefully enrich your living room space with their relaxing and quiet atmosphere which accompanied me during my meditative painting sessions.
