This is an original linocut titled, “Mother's Eternal Love” printed with archival oil-based ink.
Inspiration was pulled from the Victorian language of flowers. Each blossom was specially chosen for its meaning. The artwork is drawn and then transferred to a rubber block where I delicately carve out the image. The next step is inking the block and printing it onto watercolour paper with my small hand-operated printing press. The print is titled, signed, and dated in pencil. The flowers' names and symbolisms are provided on a separate info card.
The blossoms I chose to symbolize the bond of mother and child are:
Myrtle - Love
Eucalyptus - Protection
Bumble Bee - Life
Crocus - Youthful Glee
Carnation - Mother’s Eternal Love
Queen Ann’s Lace - Sanctuary
Daisies - Innocence
