A word about shipping…….
Etsy encourages sellers to list their items with “free shipping” on orders of $34.95 and over. They also encourage us to raise our listing prices so we can recover our shipping costs. Obviously, if we raise our prices to recover our shipping costs, the shipping is not “free”. Shipping is simply buried in the price you pay, hoping that you think you are getting free shipping.
Large retailers may be able to spread the overall costs of shipping over thousands of products. I am a small retailer, which is why most people shop Etsy. If I sell $35.00 of items, it may cost me $8.00 to ship to Chicago or $30 to ship to California. Since I do not know who will be buying my products or where you may live, I have decided to price my items at a fair retail price. This leaves you the option of deciding how fast you want your item and how much you will pay for shipping. You will also know that the price you pay for an item is a fair price.
