Offered is an IWC Mk 11 wristwatch dating to 1952.
This is a rare, desirable and keenly collected watch. It is in working, serviced, condition and is original throughout. Breaking the watch down:
Case - 36mm without the crown and 39.6mm with. It is 46.2mm lug to lug. Welded fixed bars. The case is unpolished. As an issued military wristwatch, that means it's got some marks. In fact, there are plenty of scratches as well as a few dings. I will leave it to the next owner to decide whether or not to polish but I won't. I think it's great as it is.
Dial - all correct black dial with Arabic numerals and all correct print. There is some small loss to the print, noticeably on the circled T. Lume has turned a light yellow/pumpkin colour. There is no rust or spotting or anything else. It's a good dial.
Handset - all original. The lume on the hands has turned a green.
Note on the lume: all is present and correct. The different colours between the dial and hands is not a cause of worry. Different manufacturers used different compounds and there are plenty of examples with this colour combination.
Crown - unsigned, oversized crown is of the correct type for the watch and may be original.
Caseback - screwdown caseback fully signed inside and out. Certainly original.
Movement - fully serviced prior to listing. This was something of a gamble when I acquired it. There was a lot of corrosion and the movement looked like it had either not been serviced or not been serviced for some considerable time. In fact, after both a manual and machine cleaning the movement proved to need nothing more than oil. It is original throughout and tracks perfectly.
Strap - the watch will be presented on a drab (olive) NATO style strap.
