These beautiful sugar skulls are designed and hand-build in Oaxaca, Mexico exclusively for Hilos Co.. They fit both a tea light in the bottom and a taper candle on the top to create a double candle.
We work with a family of artisans to produce these special candleholders. Small design variations are to be expected and appreciated, as each family member adds their own creative touch to the design. Message us with any questions!
The black clay color is a result of the process - no paints or additives were applied to the clay. After the clay is semi-dry, it is rubbed with various types of stones to achieve the black color. It is then fired in an underground wood-burning oven.
