Antique Necklace likely from the renowned Italian Fratelli Coppini Italy's finest Florentine Jeweler in 800 Silver for 800/1000 parts silver. The design is exact to his signed pieces so it's either unsigned from his studio or a fabulous replica.
The stunning piece is in the Italian Renaissance Revival style and would be gorgeous for a party or as treasured heirloom wedding necklace. The center stone is green glass.
The chain is modeled after the famous Della Robbia swaddled infant from the Foundling Hospital in Florence - a gorgeous long chain flower links in between.
The entire length not including the pendant is 28 inches (71 cm)the pendant measures 2 inches or 5 cm long
I have no idea if the pendant and chain were originally married but they look fabulous together. That said they pendant does not freely move over the babies. At the moment the pendant is fixed in place to wear as a doubled chain. If worn as a long chain the clasp will be on the side. If you'd like me to reposition the pendant so the clasp is at the back (for long chain wearing) I'm happy to do so. Drop a note in the comments.
In excellent condition it is stunning on. Wear commensurate with age. I've lightly cleaned it to make it shine but preserve the tarnish layer that gives contrast.
Note on 800 Silver - .800 is the 'sterling standard in many European countries" In the USA/ Canada and UK 925/1000 or .925 silver is what we call sterling. That means 92.5% of the metal is silver and the rest is non-silver. This piece contains 80% silver which is the 'sterling' standard for Italy. The pendant is clearly stamped. There is no mark on the chain that I could find.
