We managed to find another great example of antique eyewear for our Curiosity Shoppers and Steampunk aficionados. Manufacturer unknown - exact age unknown but our best guess is early 1900's. Very good lenses with a very dark greenish brown tint - very clear to look through. Some scratching of the glass but not bad - no chips or cracks. The metal (aluminum alloy?) lens framing is in excellent condition. Looks only lightly used and apparently stored away in a safe place for a long time. The chocolate brown finished leather is in very good condition. We have applied a light coating of a leather conditioner to help preserve its beauty. The leather is hemmed with a darker brown felt edging for comfort. Two black woven cotton laces are attached on either side so that the mask can be tied on behind the head. Fairly flexible so one size fits most. Based on the design, we guess that this vintage pair of safety goggles could have been used for early motoring, cycling, or aviation. Only one available. Too cool!
