I have produced a triptych set of prints in which there are birds congregating in a tree. The branches flow from one print into the next.
Its an imaginary world where you'll find your eyes moving back and fourth across the prints.
The images are 12" x 16", and are printed in a rich oil based ink on 18" x 24" paper.
There are 25 prints of each block in this edition.
The prints are pulled by hand using a rubbing technique which creates images with slight variations due to the nature of the process.
I start by making a drawing, and then trace the drawing onto the linoleum block. Once I'm happy with the image on the block I begin carving away all the negative space where I do not want the ink. After Ive finished carving the block I apply ink to it by using a roller. When the block has enough ink on it I apply the paper and begin rubbing the back of the paper with a rubbing tool to transfer the ink. Then I just hang them to dry.
