Lokta paper is prepared from the fibrous bark of the Daphine Cannabina, or Lokta in the local language, which grows at high altitudes in the Himalayas. The bark is boiled and beaten with wooden mallets to produce a pulp which is poured into wooden frames and sun-dried.
