Vintage gold and black and platinum and black buttons. These antique glass buttons were made in around 1920-1930 In Czechoslovakia, in Jablonec area. And some have a distinct Art Deco design
Czech button have been made in this are since the 1800s.
As competition among button makers increased in the 1900s the Czech invested in mold making technique and intricate design making them the world leader in the 1900s and early 20th century in the button marked, and exporting them all over the world.
Some of these buttons still have the older type metal shank and some are already using molded glass shanks.
These buttons are hand pressed and the edges are hand polished.
After this real gold or platinum ( silver color ) is steamed onto the black glass.
After this the button is TTC cut ( table top cut ) removing some of gold to show a smooth black surface giving the button a shiny two tone finish .
This is a many step process is time consuming process making these the premium button from the Czech manufacturers
