This plate is made from A36 Steel and is raw and unseasoned steel. This steel will be dirty and have mill scale, all of which can be removed. There will NOT be any rust.
We have rounded all 4 corners for easier handling.

Here is how I have seasoned before. YOUTUBE also has very good videos on it.
Wash steel and dry. Soak in vinegar for a day or so to remove mill scale. Scrape off mill scale and wash and clean again. Muriatic acid also works but BE CAREFUL AND READ SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS.
Put in oven @ 150 to 250 degrees to warm it up for a few minutes.
Take it out, put on some oil (flaxseed works well, but others do too) on a paper towel and rub it over the entire face of the plate.
Let it sit a few minutes, then take a paper towel and rub it down to wipe off excess oil
Put in oven at 500 degrees for 2 hours. Turn off oven, let it cool for another 2 hours.
Do this process as many times as necessary to come out to a nice seasoned finish. Might need to do it 4-5 times to get it all to stick. To maintain it, never wash with soap, only use water and light scrubbing. I would suggest doing this process above after using it (doesn't need to be every time, just once every 3-4 times). Rub a little vegetable or some other oil (we use flaxseed) over the plate after use and while it's still hot. Obviously, you need to be very careful doing this as it stays hot a long time. After giving it a light layer of oil, carefully wipe it down with a towel or paper towel in order to remove any excess, you don't want the oil to pool at all.
