I made this Smith & Wesson 642-2 Cross Draw holster from 7 to 9 oz. Vegetable tanned leather. The holster is hand dyed (dark brown) and finished with a coat of liquid mink oil. The thumb break is basically a heavy-duty snap and leather, which I have found more desirable than the steel type. I glued a small piece of leather over the back of the snap to protect the firearm finish. The holster will fit on up to a 1.5" belt and the belt loop is 2" wide.
The holster is wet formed to a J frame Model 642, 1 7/8" barrel. Other J frame models do fit such as: 340PD, Model 637, Model 43C. Contact me if you have questions about fitment of your firearm before purchasing. I use Handgunhero.com for tabletop comparisons of different firearms.
Please allow a break in period, especially with the belt loop. Update 3/29/2024: If you purchase this holster for a revolver other than the S&W 642 you may have to take extra care to form this holster to your specific Revolver. One method I've used to reform a holster is as follows.
