An original one blue piece leather motorcycle suit by 'Lewis Leather' dating from the 1960.
The suit itself is a typical lewis item from the period. It is made from a thick blue coloured leather hide and features a full length front zipper, zips to the ankle and wrists and an angled zipper chest pocket. All the zips are brass 'L' marked period examples which denotes 'Lightning' as the manufacturer and there is a small tab which fastens across the top of each zip with leather. This is intended to stop the zip from being able to come undone under its own force. The suit features a large Lewis Leather patch to the front left breast below which the original owner has added a Winnie the Pooh patch. The suit also features reinforced leather sections to knees, elbows and seat.
Inside the overalls the original label is still present and is bright and legible. It again bears the maker's name and typical period graphics. There is also a small size label which bears the size of 38.
When laid flat the suit measures -
Chest - 19"
Waist - 14 1/2"
Inside arm - 19 1/2"
Outside arm - 24"
Shoulders -
Inside leg - 27"
The suit is in worn condition but displays well. There are various signs of wear and use as well as some repairs. There is a small hole to the front which is illustrated in picture 6. Please study the pictures and remember that this is a pre-worn vintage item that has been used for racing motorcycles and therefore has issues commensurate with this.
