Duro wheat flour snacks are fun to cook and delicious when topped with hot sauce, lime, cheese, seasoning or nothing at all, this light, crunchy traditional Mexican snack will keep you coming back for more! These duros come uncooked and can be stored like pasta.
INGREDIENTS: Extruded Wheat Flour, Corn Starch, Iodized Salt, Sodium Bicarbonate, Yellow 5 and 6
COOKING INSTRUCTIONS:
Uncooked duros look like pasta and are small, hard and dark orange in color. When they cook they puff up and become airy, expanding 2-4 times their original size and become light in color. Uncooked portions will remain dark in color and are hard.
*Deep Fry Method: Heat oil to 380 degrees. Deep fry in small amounts for 10-15 seconds. Remove from oil using metal skimmer ladle or strainer and allow to drain and cool on paper towels.
*Microwave Method: Place 10-15 duros on microwave-safe plate. Cook on low to medium heat for 15-30 seconds. **NOTE: Every microwave is different so watch your first batch while it cooks and note the time needed to achieve best results. If a portion of the duros is still uncooked, stir them around the plate and try adding additional time. If dark burnt spots appear, cook future batches with less time.**
*Toppings: Duros are a great crunchy snack by themselves but for additional flavor, try seasoning with Mexican spices or topping with lime, parmesan cheese or Tapatio hot sauce.
