The 2024 Native American $1 Coin honors the 1924 Indian Citizenship Act Law, which grants U. S. Citizenship to "all non-citizen Indians born within the territorial limits of the United States". The act did not require American Indians to give up their Tribal Citizenship to become U.S. citizens, thus, allowing Indian people to preserve their Tribal identity and their right to communal Tribal property. The act also added to the diversity of thought and culture of our Nation by unlocking the doors for Indians to become citizens on their own terms.
The reverse design shows and eagle staff, the American Indian symbol of respect, honor, and patriotism. together with an American Flag, representing the dual citizenship of Native Americans.
The obverse remains the same as previous issues.
The coins minted at the Philadelphia Mint have circulating finishes, but have never been circulated.
Pictures are from stock photos. Coins are shipped in non-plastic coin flips. The coins are rolled by a US Mint automated machine and not by hand, thus some coins may have nicks and scratched on them.
