Hand made guillotine using hardwood, steel, and brass. Each guillotine is individually cut and assembled from a combination of walnut, maple, mahogany, and purple heart. This was fully designed by me based on historic references in either a French or stage magician design. The French style has a long blade that falls in front of the Lunette (head restraint), while the stage magician style blade rests in the center of the Lunette. The blades are cut from mild steel and a slightly sharp cutting edge is ground. The blade is held up by cotton twine that is secured in place by a brass ring that loops over a brass post. Each guillotine has very small variations due to material availability and design tweaks. The top plate is secured by two screw to ensure that the cotton twine can be replaced, should it ever be needed in the future.
