This piece has been left natural and unfinished so the new owner can install it as it naturally appears or finish it to their taste.
** You will NOT be getting the mantel in the pictures. But it will be a close match. Keep in mind all mantels will look slightly different for no two barns are the same.
6"-8" Tall (up & down) x 6"-8 Wide (front to back) x 36 -84 inches (3-7 foot) Long (right to left). The dimensions on the Tall and the Wide are a category of these beams, meaning the beam you receive may be a slightly different size. Your beam may actually be +/-1." in either direction. So if you chose an 8x8 The beam could actually be 7"x7" all the way up to 9"x9". Also note the beam you get may not be a perfect square. For example the sizes could be 6.25" x 7" or 8.25"x9. Can cut shorter (right to left) at no additional cost. The length will be the length you choose. If you want it to be cut shorter buy the beam that is one size bigger. For example if you need 66". Purchase the 72" beam and let me know during check out you want it cut to 66".

Special Note 2: The very 1st picture is a mantel that is sanded and stain ready. The 2nd picture in this ad is finished with a clear coat only. It is just an example what it might look like if just a clear coat is applied. It is there to let you know what your mantel could look like finished.
The process I do on every mantel is as followed. 1) all wood is dried. 2) Clean of the beam with a power washer. 3) sand it with a special sander that will leave the natural character in place. 4.clean it where need with a wire wheel and sand the edges so they are smoother. Then it is sprayed with a borate- based product to prevent bugs from being in the wood.
The mantel shelf, itself, should be considered as much a piece of furniture as any other pieces in the room. Each and every Mantel is unique with many grain variations, knots, wormholes, mortises, checks (long naturally occurring cracks), nail holes, saw marks, among other natural characteristics.
Some Mantels have one or more mortise pockets (the part that looks like a square hole).
