2008 Fiesta Bowl
Runaway Truck
West Virginia vs Oklahoma
48 - 28
2 January, 2008
Still in their own territory, fullback Owen Schmitt took a handoff all the way down the field. The "runaway beer truck" wouldn't be stopped as West Virginia extended their lead. Oklahoma were 8 point favorites but would fall to West Virginia by 20. A great day for Mountaineer fans.
2006 Sugar Bowl
The Fake
West Virginia vs Georgia
38 - 35
2 January, 2006
A gutsy call to run a fake punt with less than 2 minutes left paid off as Phil Brady reached the first and West Virginia sealed the victory in the Sugar Bowl.
1993 Regular Season
Attendance Record - 70,222
West Virginia vs Miami
17 - 14
20 November, 1993
Somehow, someway, Mountaineer Field fit 70,222 people inside - a record which still stands today. The faithful fans were paid dividends as they witnessed their team knock down Miami and continue their undefeated season.
2012 Orange Bowl
Legendary Return
West Virginia vs Clemson
70 - 33
4 January, 2012
It's the stuff of legend. Clemson were about to score. Actually, it appeared that they did... and then Darwin Cook ran it all the way back 100 yards for touchdown. WVU never looked back as they crushed Clemson, racking up 70 points
