A smelling salts flacon, with an egg shaped body, made of two natural mother of pearl halfs set in a silver frame, with a nicely detailed silver bottle neck with a cork stopper, inside it has a tube shaped bottle made of glass, designed to contain smelling salst, or perfume, The cap at the top side is fashioned in a crown shape, and has a small cork stopper, the cap is attached to the mother of pearl body with a brass chain, when the stopper is open the cap slides up to the chain, so the cap cannot be lost !
This delicate beauty is in good antique condition, and actually is a souvenir, from a visit to Fécamp, Fécamp is a small village at the sea shore, in the French department of Normandy, Victorian Era ! ( 1800's ) In good antique condition, well preserved, with age appropriate signs of wear and use, like blackish silver oxidation, and blessed with a nice and natural patina !
Measurements : The body with the stopper measures Approx 2 3/4 Inches high by 1 Inches wide, 7 cm x 3 cm ) the bottle with the chain and the silver ring measures approx 4.5 Inches when layed on the table ( 11,5 cm ), weight : 15 gr.
