Pure virgin sheep’s wool blanket, designed in Ireland and sustainably woven on semi-automatic loom. The blanket is really warm, fat, and ideal for camping but it can also be used indoors, and it will be perfect as a bed blanket. The higher quality weave with finer knots adds warmth and durability, while the light brush on either sides makes it even smoother and softer.
Made of thick, raw and unbleached wool, untouched by harsh chemicals, treatments or fire retardants, the blanket weighs 5.6 lbs, with a density of 740 GSM/m2 (that means nice and thick), perfect for those cold winter nights.
Please note that high-quality wool products can smell of lanolin, which is naturally secreted by sheep. This is what makes their coats waterproof, and this often results in wool smelling more strongly when wet. When the wool is washed, it is in fact left with a 0.5% lanolin residue and this plays an important role in the conservation and smoothness of the fiber.
Many wool products are made with wool that’s been heavily processed or ‘super-washed’ which can mask the smell, however our sheep wool is not bleached with hydrogen peroxide, not chlorine treated, and not carbonised with sulphuric acid.
Pure soap and hard work, that's all it is! The chosen method of processing is much heavier but it ensures high quality and is environment friendly.
Sometimes, upon opening a newly purchase product, a faint odor can be still detected by those of us with very sensitive noses, even though the big percentage of the lanolin has been removed and the wool has been thoroughly cleaned. But with a little air, it will quickly subside.
