This beautiful satin finish aromatic red cedar flute is to the keys of pentatonic minor F#, G, or A (low to high). They range from 23” to 19”long, depending on key, and have a beautiful rich, mellow tone. This is one of the easiest types of flute to learn, keeping in mind a soft air flow rather than blowing hard. The instrument itself is made in the U.S. and I complete the finishing, paint the design work, and finish with a protective coat of satin varnish. I also glue onto the near end of the fetish a tiny fresh-water mussel shell collected from the wooded banks of nearby Karoondinha (Penns Creek) here in central Pennsylvania, where our original inhabitants camped, hunted, and fished. The vining tiny Daisy design is an abstraction of the many wildflowers that grow along the banks and nearby woodland paths.
Here are a couple of short demo videos of me playing these flutes. You’ll have to copy and paste, as they won’t hotlink.

It is played in the forward manner of the North American Plains style, with an adjustable cedar fetish. The 6-hole fingering is much like many other flutes, and finger combinations as well as an occasional half hole covered allow all the notes within its range, with either tuning. The sound is rich and ethereal, and is easily achieved with a bit of practice. Each is hand painted with the same basic design but slight variations to make each one unique.
