Antique age possibly 19th century, absolutely beautiful Greek (I believe) summer chemise. This may have been part of a traditional costume that would have been layered & decorated only leaving the trimmed sleeves and hem visible.
Made of a sheer starched cotton or linen mix cloth and appears to have originally been crease pleated with a crepe like texture. Finely woven metallic (metal) gold lamé braid ornately decorates the seams and hems of the tunic with punchy flashes of colour embroidery highlighting the trim.
Pullover with deep arm holes and wide sleeves that exaggerate lots of flare with the heavier metal embroidery!

You can feel the age, but the cloth is much hardier than it looks. Fingerprints of history reveal a few worn holes on the front and sleeves. The grey has light ombré from age of lighter grey brown mainly on the shoulders and sleeves with red areas. Darker mark on the upper part close to split front & shoulder. The flash of the camera has has highlighted this on closer up images taken in daylight.

Please be aware we sell collectable pieces of history and are sold as vintage/sold as seen with expectations of minor wear such as light bobbling and fading in all the obvious places, unless stated otherwise in the description.
When considering purchasing this item please read all the measurements and the condition stated. Pattern cutting has changed over time to keep up with the evolution of our bodies growing so remember necklines and arm holes can come up smaller than todays clothing. Footwear can be narrower in the foot and around the ankles & calves.
Vintage items have lived a previous life and must be handled respectfully. When wearing and washing take into account the age of the piece so handle with care and consideration. For example hand wash in cool with a non bio cleaner as cotton threads can become brittle, fabrics can shrink and colours can run.
When purchasing Vintage footwear, remember although it is more often better made by craftsmen using quality materials, footwear should be treated respectfully as the the components used such as glue and plastic soles can deteriorate over time or become brittle and will always be an ongoing project. Vintage footwear is not recommended for everyday use.
