This is a matched vintage set of modernist slatted folding chairs. This design, called "Trieste," is credited to Aldo Jacober and Pierangelo D'Aniello for the Italian Furniture firm Alberto Bazzani in Milan. These chairs are an elegant solution to limited space. They fold completely flat and just 2" thick, but open to a comfortable 14" seat with a stylish A-line profile. All metal hardware. Chairs were made in Romania and several bear a circular makers stamp that is unreadable.
I cannot find much about the designers Aldo Jacober and Pierangela D'Aniello except that they are listed as Italian artists born in 1939. There are a number of images of modern interiors from the 1960's credited to Aldo Jacober and the Trieste chair is part of the permanent collection at the Museum of Modern Art in New York.
These chairs are a matching set made of hardwood in walnut finish. They are in good to very good vintage condition with minor bumps and wear to the edges. All chairs show light water marks at the bottom of the legs.
Dimensions; 31.25" tall x 18.25" wide x 2" deep when folded
28.5" tall with 14" x 14" seat when in use.
Each chair weighs approximately 11 pounds. Total shipped weight approximately 50 pounds. Please contact me for shipping quote as I use a shipping service with potentially better rates than quoted by Etsy.
