**INSTRUCTIONS FOR STORAGE & APPLICATION**
Leave image in sealed, airtight bag until ready to use, stored in a cool, dry location at room temperature. Do not store image in the refrigerator or freezer before it has been applied. The icing sheet has a shelf life of one year.
*If your package was left on the porch during the cold winter months,
allow it to come to room temperature before use*
MAKE SURE HANDS ARE CLEAN AND DRY!
Best if applied to your cake 24-36 hours before serving, but no later than 1 hour before serving to allow the sheet a chance to meld into the frosting. You may place your cake in the refrigerator after the image has been applied. Images are perfect on buttercream (homemade or store-bought in the can), fondant, or dried royal icing. If frosting or icing has dried and has a skin or crust, LIGHTLY mist with water from a spray bottle. If applying image to FONDANT or ROYAL ICING, I find it works best to use plain corn syrup or water where the image is to be applied. Be sure to brush onto the fondant or royal icing and NOT directly onto the icing sheet.
Remove icing image from bag and leave out in normal room conditions for about 5 minutes. Image will peel away easily from plastic laminate sheet. The back of the actual image itself is shiny and is not an additional backing. If you encounter any difficulty, pull backing sheet over the sharp edge of a table, etc., and frosting sheet should come away from backing sheet OR place image in the freezer for 10 SECONDS ONLY then peel. Avoid getting grease or water on the image.
**SOME SHEETS NEED TO BE CUT AROUND IMAGE BEFORE PEELING PLASTIC LAMINATE SHEET AWAY FROM IMAGE** Running the edge of your fingernail or the tip of a very small blade along the perimeter (after cutting) helps in the removal of the plastic backing. It is best to peel the plastic away from the image, rather than trying to peel the image away from the plastic. Most images are precut. If you do need to adjust your sheet size, make sure to trim BEFORE peeling away from plastic sheet!
Lay image on top of your cake by holding ends and applying middle first and then the ends. Using the outer edge of the palm of your (CLEAN AND DRY) hand, using a circular motion, gently rub the image from the center out to remove any air pockets and ensure good contact.
**Whipped Cream or Non-Dairy Topping will cause the image to fade and the colors to run**
If cakes are frozen, it is best to thaw slightly before applying the icing sheet.
Images are easily sliced through with a sharp knife once they “meld” into the cake frosting.
