All my prints are designed, engraved and printed in accordance with the rules of the art of Mokuhanga. I use traditional tools, products and techniques to do so.
Mokuhanga (木版画) means woodblock printing in Japan. It is a technique best known for its use in the ukiyo-e genre.
I mostly print on wild cherry wood, and sometimes also on lime, beech or walnut.
I use Japanese paper (washi) handmade by Awagami Factory®, which I prepare before each print by a sizing called Dosabiki (礬水引き). For Three Cats, it is Hosho 80g.
I only use water diluted pigments, no chemicals or additives.
The paper and craft wrappers as well as the plastic corners used to wedge the print are acid-free.
